Special instructions

This test must be taken between 8am and 10am. If you are tracking your results over time then it is vital that you always have your blood taken at the same time. Fast 8 - 10 hrs prior to sample being taken. Do not consume alcohol 24 hrs before test or cease prescribed medication without consulting your Doctor. Active B12 levels can be affected by use of vitamin B12 supplements. If you are taking an oral supplement then we recommend not taking it for one week prior to the test to ensure an accurate measure of your B12 levels. If vitamin B12 is being prescribed to you by your doctor then you should discuss with them how long to omit B12 supplements for.
This sports hormone test is an advanced profile for men and women who train in power and strength sports. As well as comprehensive tests for your overall health, it measures hormones which are essential for muscle strength as well vitamins and minerals which are important for maximising performance.
Although anyone can benefit from the insights from this test, it is especially useful for men and women who are taking performance enhancing drugs (steroids, anabolic steroids) which can have a short and long-term impact on their health. This test looks at important areas of your health that can be affected by steroid use including the balance of your male and female hormones, and the impact on your red blood cells, liver function and cholesterol levels, all of which can be negatively affected by using performance enhancing drugs.

Our doctors will not advise you on your steroid use, but will aim to keep you safe by highlighting the risks and pointing out any damage already showing in your blood from the use of performance enhancing drugs. The more you tell our doctors about your PED protocol at the time of the test the better. You will have the opportunity to do this in the supporting information we ask for after you have bought your test.

Oestradiol blood test results below 18 pmol/L are expressed as <18 pmol/L (less than 18 pmol/L) due to the sensitivity of the testing assay.

Extended upper limit. Many testosterone tests will not measure testosterone levels above 52 nmol/L, our test will measure values up to 520 nmol/L. This is especially useful for men who are taking testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) or anabolic steroids and who expect to have supranormal levels of testosterone. Please note, if your reading is above 520nmol/L the lab will not be able to calculate a free testosterone or free androgen index value. If this is the case, you will not be entitled to a refund.
