Special instructions

Please take your sample in the morning. Fasting is optional for this test. Eating fatty foods might affect the results of a small number of blood tests so we may advise a retest when you are fasted. If you are interested in your triglyceride or LDL levels, then we do recommend fasting. Do not take biotin supplements for 2 days prior to this test. If you are taking prescribed biotin you should discuss this with your doctor. Avoid heavy exercise and eating meat-rich meals for 48 hours before your test.
In this uncertain time, it can be challenging to get the health care we need, and leaving the house to visit a hospital or GP surgery can seem daunting. This at-home blood test includes all the routine blood markers you would typically get with your GP blood test if you have been diagnosed with high cholesterol and are about to start taking a statin. Our at-home test for people with a recent high cholesterol diagnosis helps you to keep on top of your health during this Coronavirus period.

This test gives you a full cholesterol breakdown (total, HDL, non-HDL, LDL, and triglycerides) as well as checking for risk factors such as diabetes (Hba1c), liver function (bilirubin, ALP, ALT, and GGT), kidney function (sodium, urea, creatinine, and eGFR) and thyroid function (TSH).

How it works is simple. All you need to do is order online, and the test kit is delivered to your home. Follow the easy instructions to collect your sample and post it back to the lab in the envelope provided. You will then receive your results on your personal online portal with doctor's recommendations, making it easy to monitor any changes in your results over time. You can also download your results as a PDF to share with your GP. You may want to inform your GP that you are having these tests done to help with your treatment schedule.

This test offers a convenient way to keep on top of your health while also allowing you to limit outside contact while social distancing due to the Coronavirus.
