Is it for you?

This health check is a great choice for men in their 30s. It covers testosterone levels, key nutrients, liver and kidney function, and cholesterol levels. Testosterone levels begin to decline in the 30s. Checking whether your levels are normal for your age, along with your nutritional markers, can help you investigate symptoms such as reduced libido, fertility, mood, and energy levels. Measure your risk of developing lifestyle-related diseases by testing your cholesterol status and liver and kidney function, which you can track over time as you make changes to your diet and lifestyle.

Special instructions

Please take your sample in the morning. Fasting is optional for this test. Eating fatty foods might affect the results of a small number of blood tests so we may advise a retest when you are fasted. If you are interested in your triglyceride or LDL levels, then we do recommend fasting. Avoid taking a finger-prick sample from a finger used to handle hormone-gels in the past 4 weeks. Do not take biotin supplements for 2 days prior to this test. If you are taking prescribed biotin you should discuss this with your doctor. You should take this test before you take any vitamin or mineral supplements. Avoid heavy exercise and eating meat-rich meals for 48 hours before your test. Do not take vitamin B12 for two weeks prior to this test. If your B12 is prescribed ask your doctor whether you should stop before testing.

From the expert

Our Men’s 30s Blood Test gives you an excellent overview of your health, focusing on testosterone levels, heart health, and nutrition for overall vitality. This health MOT gives you insights that will allow you to make informed changes to your lifestyle for long-term health.

Key biomarkers include liver and kidney function, cholesterol status, ferritin, vitamins B12 and D, and testosterone. Testosterone plays a role in body composition and maintaining a healthy libido, mood, and energy levels. A lack of testosterone can also lead to a lower sperm count. Testosterone levels typically peak in the 20s and then start to decline with age. Checking if they are healthy may help you explore why you are not building muscle mass or the cause of weight gain or low libido.

Measuring your iron stores and vitamins B12 and D may help you identify reasons for fatigue, low mood, or even depression. A deficiency in B12 or iron can cause anaemia, meaning your blood becomes less efficient at delivering oxygen to the tissues, which is required to release energy.

By looking at your liver and kidney function, along with your cholesterol status, you can detect changes that may be due to diet or drinking too much alcohol. The liver and kidneys are essential for clearing the body of waste and toxins. A build-up of fatty deposits, either in the liver or in the arteries, can increase your risk of cardiovascular disease.

Why take this test?

  • Make sure your testosterone level is within normal range.
  • Investigate causes of low mood and low energy levels.
  • Optimise your diet and nutrition to support your health.
  • Check your cholesterol status, which is a risk factor for cardiovascular disease.
