Job purpose:

We are looking for a strong UX Designer to work across digital channels including ecommerce website, My Medichecks web application and B2B Portals and properties.

As advocate for our customers, you’ll represent them all the way from researching and exploring user stories to implementation. You’ll craft user-centred solutions that remove pain points and contribute to a frictionless and cohesive experience for our customers using iterative data and research driven design.

Responsible for conceiving and conducting user research, interviews and surveys, and translating them into sitemaps, user flows, customer journey maps, wireframes, mock-ups and prototypes. You will also be expected to input into the design and overall functionality of our products in order to ensure a great user experience.

Once new products or enhancements go live, you will be actively identifying and resolving issues that arise. Identifying changing journeys, conversion funnels, content and functionality to deliver the best value to customers.

You will work with teams across the business as well as external agencies and freelancers. You will need to be a self-starter with good planning (and sometimes juggling) skills.

Key tasks:

UX / UI Designer

User Experience

  • Develop a deep understanding of our users, their needs, goals and pain-points
  • Advocate for our users through designing and delivering the most appropriate, highest quality experience
  • Deliver key design artefacts such as storyboards, user flows, wireframes, prototypes and visuals
  • Strong interaction design skills that make the complex seem simple, elegant and usable
  • Good visual design skills, with an understanding of typography, colour, layout, use of imagery and animation
  • Strong communication skills, with a tailored approach to suit the audiences
  • Proficient with Sketch, InVision and other key design applications
  • Identify unmet user needs and develop ideas for new and enhanced features
  • Possess a critical eye that looks to deliver intuitive functionality
  • Develop rapid prototypes and test them with users to understand and enhance your designs
  • Share your insights, ideas and opinions with your stakeholders and team using data and customer insights
  • Collaborate with other designers to help raise the bar, impart knowledge and ensure a seamless customer experience
  • Be an internal thought-leader on user experience best practices and trends

UX Research

  • Create and test hypotheses to drive the ongoing improvement of user experience.
  • Conceiving and conducting user research, interviews and surveys
  • Uncover and drive business value, identifying and meeting needs through user research

Key skills and experience

  • Experience as a UX / UI Designer working with an agile methodology - with a strong track record of delivery.
  • Strong portfolio that demonstrates how your experience design skills have led to or improved real-world digital experiences.
  • A strong collaborator with good communication skills.
  • Good project and time management skills.
  • Extensive experience in using UX design best practices to design solutions, and a deep understanding of mobile-first and responsive design.
  • A solid grasp of user-centred design (UCD), planning and conducting user research, user testing, A/B testing, rapid prototyping, heuristic analysis, usability and accessibility concerns.
  • Ability to iterate designs and solutions efficiently and intelligently.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions.
  • A clear understanding of the importance of user-centred design and design thinking.
  • Be passionate about resolving user pain points through great design.
  • HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript skills are a plus.
  • Comfortable iterating based upon feedback and constructive criticism.
  • Be passionate about all things digital technology, UX and other areas of design and innovation. Research and showcase knowledge in the industry’s latest trends and technologies.
  • Expertise in standard UX software such as Sketch, Axure, InVision, UXPin, Balsamiq, Framer.
