H. pylori, helicobacter pylori, is a bacteria which is a common cause of peptic ulcers. It makes it harder for the stomach to produce mucus, making you more susceptible to peptic ulcers and acid damage.
This H. pylori stool test looks to identify whether H. pylori antigens, the substances that trigger your immune system to fight infection, are present in the gastrointestinal (GI) system.
What might a high result mean?
If you test positive for H. pylori and you are symptomatic (stomach pain, bloating, discomfort when your stomach is empty) you may need to be treated with a course of antibiotics.
