C.trachomatis PCR

Chlamydia which is caused by the bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis, is the most common bacterial sexually transmitted disease in the UK, passed on through unprotected sex and can also be passed by a pregnant woman to her unborn baby. Chlamydia doesn't usually cause any symptoms but if left untreated, the bacteria can spread around the body and lead to long-term health problems.

This test looks for small amounts of the genetic material (DNA) of Chlamydia trachomatis to help identify a current, active infection. This is a sensitive test that can identify even very small amounts of bacterial DNA.
