Coenzyme Q10

Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is an antioxidant that is found in almost every cell of the body, with the highest levels being in organs with high rates of metabolism such as the heart, kidney and liver. Antioxidants are substances that break down free radicals - harmful molecules produced in the body that can cause DNA damage and play a role in a number of health problems including heart disease, strokes, alcoholic liver damage and even the aging process. Free radicals are natural by-products of cellular reactions, but too much alcohol and smoking can cause the accumulation of free radicals in the body.
